World Food Day: Share the Food, Share the Love
Every year on October 16, World Food Day reminds us of a simple truth: while many go hungry, so much good food goes to waste. At Food Connection, we’re working hard to change that.
Instead of delicious chef-prepared meals ending up in the landfill, we get it to shelters, rehab centers, after-school programs, and to our neighbors through our free food truck. It’s a win for people and the planet!
Since we started, we’ve saved over 900,000 pounds of food—and we’re just getting started.
This World Food Day, you can help too:
Together, we can make sure good food feeds people—not landfills. Let’s build a kinder, more connected community—one meal at a time.

As all humans know, we will be hungry again tomorrow, just as we are today.
Food Connection relies on the ongoing commitment of Western North Carolina to help feed our neighbors every day of the year. We have learned how to stretch an Annual Commitment of $10 a month, into TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS worth of delicious meals for our neighbors who often struggle to make ends meet.
Become a Sustaining Food Connector and help us plan ahead to meet the growing needs of WNC. This means more fresh food does not get wasted, but instead gets delivered directly to our community members to enjoy!
