Chefs in Action

On September 12, 2023 a crowd of 250 guests gathered at the Chefs in Action fundraiser for Food Connection sponsored by Wicked Weed Brewing at Asheville's Funkatorium. Asheville-area Chefs who regularly donate to Food Connection were celebrated. Each Chef had a station set up serving guests small plates of their delicious food such as poached buttered shrimp, brisket & Mac, pork belly Bao buns, bangers and mash, and much more. Guests were able to get a taste of the quality of food that was once ending up in the trash after events, but is now is rescued and redistributed by Food Connection through a Free Food Truck Experience. At the end of the event, all leftover food was packed up and donated to Food Connection! Learn more at Food-Connection.org

THE FORMAT:

Chefs in Action is a chance to taste some of the delicious chef-prepared food that was once ending up in the trash, but now thanks to Food Connection, is being rescued and delivered to feed our neighbors in need.

CELEBRATING OUR CHEF PARTNERS:

10 of our food donor/chef partners will be preparing small plates in stations throughout the venue. You’ll have a chance to interact with each one of them and ask them about the impact of Food Connection.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Wicked Weed Brewing BEER AND WINE will be provided. There will be MUSIC, GUEST SPEAKERS, RAFFLE and SILENT AUCTION with prizes from local businesses.

LAST FUN FACT

ALL of the uneaten food will be donated to ... you guessed it. Food Connection! Our guests will be able to witness a live "food connection" as we pack all of the leftovers and load them into our truck for distribution to our neighbors in need.
